Founder Emeritus
Gloria Simoneaux
DrawBridge was born in May 1989 out of my love and respect for children. With the efforts of an open-hearted community of volunteers and donors as well as generous foundation support, DrawBridge has worked with more than 10,000 homeless children since its inception. We currently provide 30 weekly expressive arts programs in six San Francisco Bay Area counties and in the fall of 2007 we initiated our first art group in a San Jose shelter, our seventh county.
Although my role as Executive Director with DrawBridge came to an end in December 2007, the organization continues to thrive in strong and capable hands. Now, almost nineteen years later, I am pursuing my next creative opportunity partnering with African grassroots programs to train local caregivers to provide art programs for vulnerable children in an environment that fosters their sense of joy, creativity and exuberance with my new organization Harambee Arts : Let's pull together.TM
I want to thank you with all my heart for being a part of these remarkable years of growth, of community building, of meetings with so many great children and their families. Thank you to our many donors, volunteers, staff and board. I am ready and energized to start a new endeavor and work "in the trenches". At the same time, I am sad to leave the DrawBridge family.
Please know how important each and every one of you has been to the success of DrawBridge and to our capacity to serve so many extraordinary children. You are a major part of this organization and it is my hope that you have felt, throughout, included and honored.
I encourage you to continue to support DrawBridge, giving homeless children the gift of hope and healing through art.
