Children Helping Children

As part of our Children Helping Children program, DrawBridge is participating in the Tents of Hope project. DrawBridge children throughout the San Francisco Bay Area are being given an opportunity to add their hand-made art work to a tent that will later be given to refugees of Darfur, Sudan. Our children have the empathy and understanding to help create a wonderful and inspiring tent and realize that they have so much to offer to other homeless families in far off countries. They are also learning about the struggles that exist in Darfur as part of this project.

Another part of our Children Helping Children program takes groups of homeless children to visit children who have cancer and terminal illness. Homeless children, who often think of themselves as having nothing, find themselves offering the rich gift of their presence and love to children who are isolated from society for other reasons.

"It is empowering for children who have no home and very few possessions to discover that they have so much to give to others. This part of our program has, in some ways, been the richest," says Executive Director Pamela Morton. "That is what DrawBridge is all about."
